Some consumer tips from the Better Business Bureau about professional services:
- Be clear about the type and scope of services you are seeking.
- Get several estimates, but remember that the least expensive service is not necessarily the best.
- Ask about the qualifications of the service and ask for references to other satisfied customers or examples of completed work.
- Get it in writing. Where appropriate, ask for or provide a contract or other paperwork specifying the work to be done.
